Top Beauty Trends For 2018
April 09, 2018
As we all rejoice that the weather is turning - dare we say it - a little spring-like, it's finally time to get excited about the top beauty trends for spring/summer 2018. From updated eyeliner to grungy glitter, here are a few of our favourites to take you into those days filled with sunshine (fingers crossed).
The New Flick
Eyeliner flicks have held the limelight for a few years now, so this season they get an update. The latest flicks are all about oversized, statement shapes, whether it's an over the top cat eye or a disconnected graphic bolt. Keep it black to stay chic, and experiment between sharp, detailed shapes and lived in, last night's face smudges.
Fashion week's catwalks were awash with high shine pouts this season, making mirror lips the perfect way to bring some sunshine to your makeup. Look to high gloss lacquers to wear nude or over your everyday lippie for a pop of colour.
Bring some sparkle to the season with the catwalk's latest obsession - glitter. Whether it's shimmery eyelids, stick on gemstones, glitter lips or skin jewels, if it's sparkling, it's perfect for spring/summer. Give the look a grown-up slant with a grungy finish, think clumps of glitter and inky colours to tap into the trend.
Say goodbye to your subtle muted manicures, this season is all about the statement nail art. Look to crystal tips, glitter dips, ombre varnishes, even floral nails… if it's encrusted, embellished or painstakingly painted, it's perfect for spring/summer.
Hairpins are in. This season sees statement headwear from pearl embellished hair grips to flower adorned headbands. Pair yours with simple hairstyles to keep the look balanced and elegant.
Summer wouldn't be summer without a pop of colour for your makeup bag. This time we turn to blue, and the brighter the better. Go for a pigmented primary colour shade for something standout, keep it springlike with pastels or make like a peacock and show off your turquoise.
Dewy Skin Top Beauty Trends
Step away from the contouring palette, this season's face is fresh and dewy. Beautiful, moisturised and even glossy skin was the fresh feel on the catwalk, punctuated by pops of blusher to bring some warmth to the look. Go for a glowing from within feel, make use of BB creams and CC creams for some lighter coverage.
