How To Stay Stylish At A Festival

Festival season is well and truly upon us, and with a packed calendar of events still to come, there's no better time to start planning those festival outfits. Dressing for a festival is no mean feat, especially if you want to avoid all the cliche, boyish bohemian, indie style pitfalls that seem to seize every man attending a music event. But it can be done, so here are a few tips on how to stay stylish even if you are battling the crowds in the middle of a muddy field.

1) You Don't Have To Ditch The Tailoring

You Don't Have To Ditch The Tailoring

For a lot of men, festival dressing means forgoing structure, often resorting to ripped jeans, slouchy tees and forgetting every rule about casual tailoring. You can stay comfy and still look slick - short sleeve shirts are a great option, give one a French tuck into a pair of tailored chino shorts if it's looking sunny. If the weather is more cold and damp, tailored trousers tucked at the cuff or with a short hem will always look cool with trainers and a polo shirt.

2) Layer In Leather

Just because it's a festival, does not mean you have to stuff a pack a mac into your rucksack just in case it rains. Take a leather jacket to channel some rocker vibes, it'll keep you warm, it's waterproof and let's face it, it's a stylish way to finish any outfit.

3) Headgear

Hats have taken a bit of a 90s turn for the past few seasons, and that goes hand in hand with the festival look. Bucket hats will give your outfit a nonchalant, street style finish. Choose a monogrammed designer version for extra festival style points.

4) Feet First

Trainers are your festival friend, especially if they're a current style favourite with a chunky sole. That said, if it's looking like it's going to be a muddy one, don't just reach for the wellies, but look to walking boots instead. There are some great hybrid, sports luxe styles out there at the moment, they are perfect if you're on your feet all day, come sunshine or rain.

5) Keep Your Accessories Luxe

You don't need to resort to neon bracelets and headbands just because it's summer and you're at a music festival. Keep your accessories chic and refined and you'll be the most stylish man in the room (or field).
