Six Spring Dresses For Your Wardrobe
March 04, 2019
Last year was definitely all about the dress. This year is also all about the dress, only we're going to see it propel further into our hearts and our wardrobes for 2019, with dresses now spanning all seasons, all occasions and all sorts of trends. Here are five styles to have on your radar for spring.
1) The Prom Dress
We've mentioned the 80s mania that is set to soar this year, and that makes it high time you introduce an 80s party staple into your wardrobe, the prom dress. Think lots of lamé, bold colours, maybe an oversized bow… 80s accessories are also making a comeback, and they're the perfect way to finish off the look. The headband is definitely having an Instagram moment, while metallic shoes will have you ready for any party.
2) The Multi-Print Dress
Last year was all for florals and feminine prints, but this year we expect to see a more mixed pattern bag. Designers are merging different prints within dresses, whether it's a polka-dot dress with contrasting stripe sleeves, or a floral top crossed with a geo print skirt. It's a great way to experiment with pattern mixing without the risk of getting it wrong, and it'll bring a standout, street style vibe to your look.
3) The Animal Print Dress
Yes, we all thought that leopard print was having a fleeting moment last year, but it turns out it was just a gateway to a whole flock of animal madness. Leopard is still a thing, but now we're seeing everything from classic animal patterns such as snakeskin and tiger print to more playful interpretations, such as giraffe and zebra print. If it's zoo worthy, it's also SS19 worthy.
4) The Glam Boho Dress
Boho dresses are always coming back in style, but this year we see them modernised with a more luxurious approach. Satins and silks are mixed with lace and broderie anglaise, perfect for your summer trip to the beach club. Finish your outfit with lots of gold jewellery - chunky mini hoops are the latest earring obsession, a statement initial necklace will keep you as stylish as the Instagram set, and a gold watch will finish the look perfectly.
5) The Prairie Dress
Scandi brands and blogger babes made sure the prairie dress was a thing in 2018, and this drives forward into 2019. Spring is the perfect time to introduce this season's version into your wardrobe; go maxi length with puff sleeves or shoulders to make more of an impact and to stay warm in cooler weather.
6) The Couture Dress
Ok, so we can't all afford couture, but the latest focus on the couture catwalk will definitely be dripping down onto the high street for spring. We're seeing lots of couture-inspired details, whether it's the voluminous, over the top, slogan detailing of Viktor & Rolf, or the endless layers of tulle à la Molly Goddard. Now for an occasion to wear it for…
