Scandi Brands To Have On Your Radar
March 18, 2019
Scandi style is having a moment. When it comes to refined, effortless elegance, our Northern European cousins have it all figured out, but they're also pretty good at statement style. Just one look at Copenhagen Fashion Week and you'll be treated to an array of outfit inspiration, from cool-without-trying street style to grown-up, minimal design.
We've got a beady eye on the Scandis this season, so here are few of our favourite Scandi brands so you can get your Norse fashion fix.
1) Stine Goya
Copenhagen's Stine Goya is everything you would expect from this creative city. Bold, artistic prints are mixed with luxurious fabrics and feminine cuts to create unique pieces that pack some personality into your wardrobe. Stine Goya is a great choice for elevated outfits, whether you're heading to a wedding or dressing up your daywear.
There's a high chance you've already seen Ganni on your travels - I cannot scroll through Instagram without seeing a floaty Ganni dress on my feed. The brand is great at print and texture, last year they ruled the patterned dress craze and this season looks like they're going to lead the ruffled blouse trend.
Stand first caught my attention with a pale pink faux fur coat that looked straight out of the Valley of the Dolls or a Wes Anderson movie. Their entire collection is just as fabulous, with lots of faux fur in pastel shades, teddy bear coats in classic camels, and plenty of animal print for those who want to make a statement.
4) House Of Dagmar
Founded by three sisters and named after their tailor grandmother, House of Dagmar puts an emphasis on great tailoring with their impeccable cuts. A favourite with the minimalist crowd, this Scandi brand should be your go-to if you want effortless pieces that are made in beautiful fabrics and stay timeless whatever the season.
5) Acne Studios
The epitome of Scandi cool, Acne Studios takes its influence from a compound of culture, whether it's art, architecture, photography or modern society. The result is a collection of luxurious basics, from must-have jeans to eccentric tailoring. Womenswear is given a slouchy, no-care attitude, while menswear oozes street style cool.
Quickly becoming a minimalist's goto brand, H&M-owned Arket creates a collection of relaxed, timeless pieces that are affordable and great quality. Mens and womenswear classics reign royal here, whether it's tailored wool trousers, a Breton top or a great basic like a plain black tee.
Another of the H&M Group's brands, Weekday provides a more street style take on the minimal Scandi silhouette. Expect modern basics, with pops of colour to give your collection some personality and some sporty detailing to keep it cool.
