Five Stylish Halloween Movie Moments

October, that time of year when the leaves start to fall, we pile on the layers, and social media feeds are filled with fancy dress ideas for Halloween. However, once you are post-school or post-grad and having to 'adult', the days of finding the best costume are often a distance memory. That said, even if you're not going all out with fake fangs and monster makeup, you can definitely find the time for some horror film binging, and there is plenty of style inspiration out there when it comes to some of the most famous scary movies.

So even if you've grown out of Trick or Treat, you can still bring some Halloween spirit into your outfit. Here are five of our favourite Halloween films for style inspiration.

The Shining

Wendy, the lead female in Stanley Kubrick's uber chilling The Shining is practically an East London hipster. Not only does she rock several oversized autumn/winter dresses that wouldn't seem out of place on a Ganni catwalk, but she is all about the rollnecks, tailored blazers and corduroy - basically everything that's on our wish lists this autumn. We also must mention Danny's knitted sweatshirts, because we could all do with a geek chic knit in our wardrobes.

Rosemary's Baby

Fashion might be the last thing on your mind when watching the devilish Rosemary's Baby, but this is one of the most stylish wardrobes in horror movie history, thanks to lead actress Mia Farrow. Her delicate and feminine side is exaggerated with typically 60s babydoll dresses, blouses, sweaters and Mary Janes, which are all just about perfect for bringing some ladylike vibes to your wardrobe this season.

The Addams Family

Show me a woman who didn't want to steal Morticia Addams' style after watching any of the Addams Family films. Queen of the fishtail, slinky full-length black dress, she is your go-to fashion inspo if you're attending a fancy cocktail do or an adults' Halloween party. You can stay chic while still oozing plenty of mysterious spooky vibes.

Scream

When Courtney Cox stepped away from Friends to appear in Scream we all thought we were just going to watch Monica in a scary movie. Turns out, she created a whole new iconic character, complete with a wardrobe full of inspiration. Reporter Gale Weathers' ensembles are great inspiration for work, with power suits in every colour of the rainbow, including next season's hot palette of neon.

The Craft

With the 90s style obsession still strong, chances are, you're already working some of The Craft's retro vibes into your wardrobe. This film is packed with some of our current style staples, from tartan skirts and oversized anoraks, to slip dresses, rocker boots and tees. Introduce some delicate jewellery into your look to give it a more of a refined, high fashion vibe. Think minimal watches like our ?, and some layered charm necklaces to nod to the paranormal theme of the film.
