Five Ideas To Refresh Your Spring Makeup
February 04, 2019
Spring is around the corner, so it's time to bat away those January blues and get inspired by some new beauty looks. Whether you want a total makeup refresh or just a little more sunshine in your life, here are five makeup trends that are set to soar this summer.
1) Tickled Pink
Yet again, pink is on the radar for 2019. A shade of coral was announced as Pantone's Colour of the Year, and so this pretty hue is set to influence everything from our outfits to our interiors to our makeup bags. Last year was all about pink eyeshadow, but this season the pink passion ignites further with blusher, lipstick, eyeliner and mascara all taking on a rosy tint. Match your blusher with your eyeshadow for an easy, all round flushed feel.
2) Line Play
Giving your everyday cat eye flick an infusion of fun, eyeliner gets playful with all sorts of graphic shapes and extended flicks for spring/summer 2019. Experiment further and try white eyeliner shapes to give the look a fresh, summertime feel.
3) Nail Bling
Say goodbye to your refined, understated manicure and say hello to OTT nails. This season saw all sorts of bejewelled, bedazzled creations at fashion week, putting statement nails on the beauty list for summer 2019. Everything from ombre paint effects to embellished pearls and beads are acceptable for this trend; bigger is definitely better as the manicure world sets its sights on maximalism.
4) Fresh Face
The fresh-faced look will always be in style, but this season it's given a luxurious, just-stepped-out-of-the-spa spin. Models were being treated to pre-makeup facials at fashion week, and we suggest you indulge in some similar pampering. Set aside some time to yourself, make sure your skincare routine and diet are giving you maximum glow and keep your coverage to a minimum. If that all sounds like too much effort, cheat the look by using some gloss across the eyelids and cheekbones.
5) Mini Fringe
The fringe is one of the quickest ways to completely transform your look. Past seasons were all about retro full fringes, but this year we're turning to the mini fringe. Modern incarnations include hacked at, wobbly fringes, always way above the eyebrows and preferably with a textured finish. Look to SS19 shows from Prada, Miu Miu and Dries Van Noten for inspiration.
