Festive Dressing Like A Pro
November 27, 2017
Like it or not, the festive dressing season has begun, and whether you’re sauntering off to a soirée or keeping it chilled with a pre-Christmas feast at home, we’re getting in the yuletide fashion spirit. Here are some stylish ideas for giving your wardrobe a little merry makeover for the season.
All That Glitters
‘Tis the season of shimmer and sparkle, and there’s no better time to work a bit of glamour into your outfits. Sequin covered cocktail dresses are a great place to start, but you can also find plenty of glitter-infused fabrics and sparkle-strewn designs this season. Wraparound dresses with shoulder pads nod to the festive parties of the 80s, while a classic sequin bodycon gives you a modern take on that look-at-me style.
We’re still loving lustrous metallics for winter, and Christmas is a great excuse to put a little shine in your wardrobe. Opt for classic gold and silver, or go modern with shades of copper and pastel metallics. Lamé fabrics bring the 80s glam to the party, while pleats and leather bring some sophistication to any celebration.
If you can’t face all-over sparkle, look to your accessories to inject your ensemble with a little festive dressing spirit. Glitter strewn clutch bags or sequin adorned minaudières are the perfect way to elevate an evening outfit. Shiny shoes and embellished heels also bring some glamour to the party. Complete the look with one of our rose gold James Derby watches for an extra special finishing touch.
If you’re more about staying in than hitting the season’s parties, it doesn’t mean you can’t bring out the Christmas wardrobe. The Christmas jumper enjoyed a resurgence a few years ago, and it hasn’t relented ever since. This season we try and give it a grown-up spin with elegant and subtle designs. Wear yours with comfy pants for some chill time, or dress them up with skirts and velvet boots if you’re keeping it casual at a friend’s house.
Menswear is all about making a statement for Christmas, with patterned blazers and shirts all making a play for that head-turning party look. Velvets and printed silks are all bringing some dapper vibes, pair them with skinny trousers and denim for a more relaxed take on occasion wear.
Suited & Booted
If you’re more about making an impression, the tuxedo is your must-have piece for the festive dressing season. Look to retro American proms for inspiration, whether it’s with light velvet blazers and pastel silk shirts, or varsity bomber jackets and dicky bows. Team your outfit with some sharp accessories such as cufflinks, lapel pins and of course one of our classic style watches and you’ll look every inch the debonair prom king.
