The Best 2018 Festival Fashion Moments
Posted on 09 July 2018
From Coachella to Bestival to Primavera Sound, summer festivals are now as much about the fashion as the performances. We've come a long way since the boho chic days of maxi skirts and fringing, festivals are now packed with as much style inspiration as fashion week. With the season now in full swing, we've been taking a look at some of our favourite style moments, and how they'll be influencing your summer wardrobe.
1) 90s Girlband
Beyonce may still be rocking the festival stages this summer, but it's her 90s wardrobe that we're more interested in when it comes to festival outfit inspiration. The 90s girlband look incorporates sporty pieces such as cargo pants and low slung baggy trousers, which are typically paired with a sports bra or crop top. Look to elevated fabrics such as silk and satin to bring the look into high fashion territory and give it a sports luxe feel.
2) Co-ordinated Style
The co-ord has been in the fashion spotlight for a few seasons, but this year it takes on a festival feel by flashing a bit of flesh - think matching shorts with crop tops, or bandeaus with bellbottoms. Loud prints and patterns bring a fun festival feel to this look, opt for wide stripes, oversized florals and this season's favourite, polka dots.
3) West Fest
Wild west style has slowly been edging its way back into fashion, with cowboy boots and rodeo inspired shirts all finding their way into the fashionista wardrobe. 2018 festival style has sealed the deal when it comes to Western vibes - cowboy boots are the perfect festival-goers footwear, while studded jackets, cowboy hats and even bandanas are making a comeback. Pair your pieces with feminine separates such as flowing kimonos and floral dresses to give them a free-spirited festival feel.
4) Classic Crochet
A festival favourite, crochet was always a classic hippy style piece that was perfect for a summer of dancing in fields. This season we see it in rainbow colours as well as the traditional cream and white, with tassels and beads to give it something extra, or pared down in simple vest tops with an elegant edge. Incorporate the trend into your tailoring by styling a crochet top with a pair of wide legged trousers and a boyfriend blazer.
5) Glitter Overload
Inject your 2018 festival style with a bit of disco glamour and overdose on sequins, glitter and gemstones. From metallic temp tattoos and body jewels to sequin skirts, shorts and crop tops, if it's shimmering, it's perfect for that unicorn raver aesthetic. You don't have to go as all out as our festival goers to bring this trend into your summer wardrobe, just work a metallic top or some statement jewellery into your everyday outfits to give them some sunshine.
